NOTD - Bling Bling Gold

May 24, 2011 2:07 pm · 43 Views · Posted by Regis

You know you're a hardcore nail polish addict when the first thing you do after exams is to sit down and paint your nails while watching Korean dramas. Ha ha, I did this to celebrate the end of my exams, may the bling bling gold bring me luck for the results! Huat arh!!!

Here's a close-up in natural lighting:

Holographic yumminess~

In my room, where the lighting is a little yellower:

And the holographic effect under strong artificial (table lamp) lighting:

You can probably tell I'm into painting my ring finger a different colour, I think it's kinda cool. Get to try out different nail polishes also, kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

The gold polish is Etude House's LuciDarling Glitter Polish; honestly, they do good glitter holographic polishes but their other shimmer and cremes tend to be streaky and not so nice to use. Underneath the gold glitter, I used China Glaze's holographic polish in "FYI", to give it a base colour.

The polish on my ring finger is Orly's "Space Cadet" over China Glaze's "Emerald Sparkle". I was trying to bring out the yellow-green duochrome more, but I think the pink duochrome became more obvious instead. -__- Nonetheless, it's still one of my favourite polishes because of its awesome duochrome effect!

Thanks for viewing this entry, guys, and don't forget to join the giveaway if you haven't!

NOTD - A Different Kind of French

May 15, 2011 1:42 pm · 36 Views · Posted by Regis

Like what the title says, it's the basic french manicure with a different colour combi as compared to the usual pink and white version.

Polishes used were the Dear Darling polish in "Blushing Peach" and the GR603 polish; both are from Etude House.

I'm not sure if you can see it here, but the peach coloured nail polish has very slight pink shimmers in it.

In the bottle it looks so pretty and kinda holographic, but sadly that doesn't translate well on the nails. The polish also applies quite streaky, but hey, I paid S$4+ for the polish only, can't expect top notch quality from it. :) However, I do like this colour combination though.

One more week. I have to tahan one more week! Before my exams ends. So I'll talk to you guys more later, thanks for viewing this post, and keep an eye out for part 2 of my giveaway! Take care everyone!

NOTD - Two Sided Nails

January 15, 2011 3:05 pm · 52 Views · Posted by Regis

I believe almost everyone has at least 2 sides to their personalities. It's our multi-faceted characteristics that make us all interesting and unique, non? I know I do - I behave totally different when I'm with different groups of people. But how exactly do I behave with each bunch? Well, that's for me to know and you to find out~ :P

Anyway, I was inspired to do this simple manicure from Urban (the weekly read that comes with The Straits Times). They were writing about the upcoming fashion trends for 2011 and apparently, manicures and nail art are still gonna be big this year! Yay! In it, they mentioned about painting the under side of your nails if you have long enough talons, so I decided to try it.

Here's the side of my nails that faces up (the side that you normally see):

Ha ha, it's all sweet and paddle pop-esque! I wanted to play with softer colours using the Etude House nail polishes I bought from my Malaysia trip. I quite sure it's not showing up in the pictures, but that bright blue polish actually has a green/gold reflux to it. It's a cool hologram/duochrome polish to wear!

And here's the under side, where I went for a more edgy deep green-orange combo. Also Etude House polishes. :)

(see that scratch on my 2nd finger? My cat did that, one temperamental afternoon.)

So it turns out like this:

Ha ha, corny but I think it's interesting! Excuse the screwed up image, my picture editor is still cranky. So that's the manicure that I've been spotting for the past week and since the polishes have not chipped at all and still look good, I've no intentions of switching them yet. I'll probably have to cut my naisl soon though, cos it's time to get down to making pineapple tarts! I make them in small batches to sell to friends. :D

Anyway, thanks for viewing people~

Year End 2010 Malaysia Haul

January 6, 2011 12:30 pm · 211 Views · Posted by Regis

My family and I always make it a point to holiday in Malaysia twice annually, to take a breather from SG and to selfishly satisfy my never-ending shopping cravings. So last week, we went on a 4 day-3 night shopping trip in KL and Sunway Pyramid!

Actually, I wasn't aiming on buying much cosmetics cos (and I'm really happy to announce this) I'm satisfied with all my makeup I have. I'm planning to seriously use some up before buying more. For now. I don't know how long my satisfaction with my stash will last though. The last "lust product" for me now is only the Urban Decay Naked palette (which I pathetically haven't gotten Q__Q )

But my primary goal for this trip was to get a full manicure and pedicure done! After attending the basic nail course in the nail school, I've always done my own mani's and pedi's but this time, I really wanted to be pampered. Hence, I scoured around Times Square Berjaya and found this nail parlor with very attractive rates! I got a full mani and pedi for just RM$66 (S$28) with 2 free nail art thrown in.

For the first time, I'm proudly showing you guys my troll feet!

[In indoor lighting]

The poor manicurist had to scrub and file at my feet for ages in order to get rid of all the cuticles and dead skin, but she did a fantastic job and for the first time in a long while, I had nice smooth feet~

This beautiful purple-blue duochrome polish is by Creative Nail Design (CND) but I didn't get the specific name. I absolutely love the strong blue shimmer that flashes when the light hits my nails, and the polish was very shiny even without top coat.

Here's a more accurate picture of the purple colour.

And my manicure, using my cat Mocha as a contrasting backdrop. And again, I forgot to get the name of the polish but it's something by China Glaze. Looks like the polish "Stellar" though, after much googling.

Gahh, how I love the gold glitter reflex in this polish. Even in low light, it shines so beautifully.

And here are the two free nail art I got (pretty white flowers)~

Definitely worth the RM$66 I'd say. I'm going back for another round the next time I go KL. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My rojak haul.
And though I didn't go berserk on cosmetics, I lost it when it came to nail polish! When it's so friggin' cheap, how can you not haul?! (self-imposed nail polish ban for the year)
I love Etude House's glitter polish but they're kinda pricey in SG, so I always make it a point to stock up when I'm in M'sia. The pink and gold glitter polishes were RM$8.33 (S$3.53) after 30% off the retail price while the blue and peach duochrome-y polishes were RM$5.95 (S$2.53) after 50% off.
These two were RM$4.83 (S$2.05) each after 30% off.
Skinfood polishes are another korean polish brand that I love, especially for their neutral, earth-toned colours. Just don't get the carcinogenic ones. =x This two were RM$8.80 (S$3.73) each without any discount. Still cheap though, compared to SG's prices.
And another thing to haul in M'sia.. what else?? Ha ha, of course Daiso cosmetics!! Good to play with, really cheap prices and not available in SG.
I've always been quite impressed with the quality of Daiso e/s. This kind of pigmentation is awesome at only RM$5 (S$2.12) per palette.
Swatches of the colourful 9 shadow palette (one which my mom helped herself to).
The first 2 blue e/s here are swatches of the green pigment "Shiny Powder" (lol); the most left was swatched wet while the one next to it dry.
Swatches of the purple and blue quads.
Note that all swatches were done without a primer/base, so these are their true pigmentation.
Jewelry that I bought, 3 rings and 2 bracelets for RM$30 (S$12.72) only! They had some crazy discount thing going on.
And the 2 products I aimed to buy for this trip, my eye cream and eye drops.
Ha ha, what a lengthy post! *yawn* In a nutshell, when you go shopping in Malaysia, please do not hold back. Technically, you're saving loads!
Anyway, thanks for looking even though it was sooo draggy, cheers everyone!
Faux (self-drawn) Tattoo
January 4, 2011 3:41 pm · 111 Views · Posted by Regis
When you can't (or more like, unwilling) to get the real thing and when you don't wanna splurge on the Chanel ones...
..do what I did and draw on some of your own! :) All it took was some liquid eye liner (make sure it's a good budge-proof one) and Etude House's Tear Drop Glitter Eye Liner (given by miwitch). Ohh, and some creative juice!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A close up of the design at the wrist:

And those at my middle finger, thumb and the back of my wrist:

And how it looks against a black polo tee and denim shorts (sorry had to show you guys my crotch Q__Q):

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few cam-whoring pics with my creation:
I had on a winged eyeliner and some of Etude House' glitter eyeliner on the inner corner of my eyes when I went out that day. Paired this simple eye look with some orangey-red lips but after dinner and  coffee, it all wore out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Anyway, I loved the idea so much that I wore it out to a friends gathering the next day. Of course since these aren't permanent, I had to redraw them but no problem! I had on another design for that gathering (but didn't photograph it cos I was in a rush). And I got a few compliments, even though one of my friends exclaimed "Waste eyeliner!!!"

I was like "Hello, I have been using this eyeliner for 1 year and it isn't even finished!"

"Ohhh, trying ways to buy new eyeliner harh?"

Ha ha, he totally read my mind! But yeah, I think my eyeliner is finally drying out a little after this tattoo thing and it's good! Cos I've got my eye on one of the new pen-type liquid eyeliner recently brought in by Watsons, heh.

So that's my home-made version of the Chanel-esque temporary tattoo and if you want some but cannot afford the Chanel ones, this is a good thing to try out. Or if you're finding ways to use up eyeliner, this is definitely a good way! Ha ha, hope you guys enjoyed the pic spam, thanks for reading!

NOTD - Black Christmas

December 22, 2010 12:41 pm · 45 Views · Posted by Regis

I went kinda psycho last night. Instead of studying for my last paper (YESSSSS, finally), I spent 2 hours adorning my nails for them to be worthy of the upcoming christmas celebrations!

Ahh, exams, just let Santa Claus screw you.

Presenting my very glittery, very elaborate set of festive nails! Classic too~

Sparkly sparkly holographic awesomeness~~~

The black was actually Manglaze's Matte black polish, but I painted Poshe's top coat over it and it became a nice shimmery black. :) Who says the polish is only for veiny man hands? Mine's such a girly rendition.

The ribbon design (I love how it resembles gift wrappings) was done with my Konad set and China Glaze's "Millennium" Khrome polish. The glittery tips are with Etude House's glitter polish.

Lastly, when you have such gorgeous nails, who wouldn't like hiding your face behind them? I sure don't mind (since they look a whole lot better than my face).

Hope you like the design as much as I do, and thanks for reading this short post! Tootles lovely people!!
