NOTD - Bling Bling Gold

May 24, 2011 2:07 pm · 43 Views · Posted by Regis

You know you're a hardcore nail polish addict when the first thing you do after exams is to sit down and paint your nails while watching Korean dramas. Ha ha, I did this to celebrate the end of my exams, may the bling bling gold bring me luck for the results! Huat arh!!!

Here's a close-up in natural lighting:

Holographic yumminess~

In my room, where the lighting is a little yellower:

And the holographic effect under strong artificial (table lamp) lighting:

You can probably tell I'm into painting my ring finger a different colour, I think it's kinda cool. Get to try out different nail polishes also, kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

The gold polish is Etude House's LuciDarling Glitter Polish; honestly, they do good glitter holographic polishes but their other shimmer and cremes tend to be streaky and not so nice to use. Underneath the gold glitter, I used China Glaze's holographic polish in "FYI", to give it a base colour.

The polish on my ring finger is Orly's "Space Cadet" over China Glaze's "Emerald Sparkle". I was trying to bring out the yellow-green duochrome more, but I think the pink duochrome became more obvious instead. -__- Nonetheless, it's still one of my favourite polishes because of its awesome duochrome effect!

Thanks for viewing this entry, guys, and don't forget to join the giveaway if you haven't!

NOTD - A Different Kind of French

May 15, 2011 1:42 pm · 34 Views · Posted by Regis

Like what the title says, it's the basic french manicure with a different colour combi as compared to the usual pink and white version.

Polishes used were the Dear Darling polish in "Blushing Peach" and the GR603 polish; both are from Etude House.

I'm not sure if you can see it here, but the peach coloured nail polish has very slight pink shimmers in it.

In the bottle it looks so pretty and kinda holographic, but sadly that doesn't translate well on the nails. The polish also applies quite streaky, but hey, I paid S$4+ for the polish only, can't expect top notch quality from it. :) However, I do like this colour combination though.

One more week. I have to tahan one more week! Before my exams ends. So I'll talk to you guys more later, thanks for viewing this post, and keep an eye out for part 2 of my giveaway! Take care everyone!

NOTD - Chicks and Cakes for Easter

April 21, 2011 8:41 pm · 97 Views · Posted by Regis

Still feeling the playful vibe and wanting to challenge myself with more nail art, I decided to paint up some pretty elaborate designs this week! Voila, mes mains!

My left hand:

Strawberry cupcakes on the thumb and ring finer (sorry, the ring finger's cake is upside down :p), some candles on a cake on my index finer and chicks on my middle and little finger!

My right hand:

Same thing, but with chocolate cupcakes instead!

The candles on the cake on both my index fingers are specially painted for my friend who was celebrating her birthday this week (it just passed). :) The moment I saw her, I pointed my fingers at her and said "For you!", lol!

Anyway, my 2 cupcakes...

...and my 2 chickies are so cute! They're all ready for the long Easter weekend, are you?

Thanks for viewing this entry, hope you enjoyed the cute little designs as much as I enjoyed scrawling them on~

NOTD - I'm Feeling Playful

April 11, 2011 12:00 pm · 63 Views · Posted by Regis

Yes, I am. :] And that's why I did these playful designs on my fingers and toes~

On my hands are bee nailart designs. I was inspired to do this after watching BubzBeauty (btw, am I the only one who thinks she looks old..?) and Rusty paint this on their nails, but two weeks back, I wasn't quite feeling the cute vibe - I was into the emo-punk feel. That's why I only got down to it this week. Also, I modified the design a bit (changed the bee and added clouds, ho ho!).

Here's my left hand:

Ha ha, pardon the slight smudging of the bee! xD I didn't wait long enough for the nail art to dry before going over it with my top coat, oopsie!

My right hand:

Ha ha, I thought I'd have to go through hell and back to paint my right hand, but it wasn't all that bad. In fact I prefer the bee on my right hand! I felt that the one of my left hand was a bit too big. -___- I love how the design here seems to connect so well between my fingers.

My two lovely bees, one fatter than the other~ I had to use my teeth on my camera to capture this shot, wtf, ha ha ha!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And I went clown-crazy on my toes!
This design was inspired by Kimberly, who does a great job with spots. I think it's easier to paint this on other people's toes, cos after bending over my feet for 15 minutes, my eyes were tearing and my back was aching from the strain. It was terribly tiring, but worth it, cos the design is so cute!
So I'll be proudly sporting these designs for a while (probably a week for my fingers and a month for my toes)! What do you think of the designs? Ha ha, thanks for viewing anyway! ^__^
NOTD - Grungey Houndstooth
April 2, 2011 5:52 pm · 33 Views · Posted by Regis
It's been a while since I've last sported intricate designs on my nails, partly due to me not having enough time/patience to paint my nails properly and also because I dig solid-coloured nails. :)
But I have been wearing this design for the last 2 weeks (gasp! Broke my 1-week routine) before finally taking it off this weekend!
My left hand:
And my right:
I kinda went asymmetrical by printing the houndstooth design on different fingers on both hands. The gorgeous red colour is OPI's "The Show Must Go On" and the black was some random black (goopy) polish, which I used for my konading.
I love how the red polish flashes orange at certain angles! It's like you're getting a different houndstooth design everytime.
And also how the black design makes the red look more cool-toned while the other fingers look warmer. I'm a sucker for multi-dimensional nail polishes. :)
So a quick update on what I did last Sunday:
I went to donate blood. It's my 7th time and I'm sooo aiming for that 10-time medal, woots! But it was my first time feeling light-headed after the donation. Hmm, normally it doesn't happen; must be due to that time of the month.
And also I made this collage of my cat! (pardon the noob editing skills, I had to make do with whatever basic image programme I had ;__;)
Ha ha, hope you enjoyed this little post! Thanks for looking and take care y'all!
NOTD - Chocolate and Alice
February 20, 2011 1:40 pm · 34 Views · Posted by Regis
Yeah, I know the title sucks but these are my 2 Nail-of-the-dayWeek (NOTWs) that I've been sporting after CNY. A quick post, cos I don't have much time on my hands and I've got tons of school work to catch up on. Sometimes, I hate my lazy self.
NOTD #1 - Skin Food's Nail Vita Polish
I don't know, they don't give names to their polishes (or at least if they do, it's in Korean and I don't read Korean). It's along the brown, neutral, mushroom-like range of shades and I love love LOVE this polish. Ha ha, besides the point that it makes my fingers look like yummy blocks of chocolate! :d
It glows differently under different lighting, because it's got these minuscule gold sparkles floating around in its rich brown cream base colour.
Under indoor lighting:
Under strong sunlight:
Had to show you guys the large picture, cos the gold shimmer is just so pretty! I was a tad reluctant to take off this polish after wearing it for 1 week.
But I had to cause it's my routine, and I changed it to this:
Yep, it's the "long time no see" Absolutely Alice fro OPI!
I was rummaging through my drawer to see what polish to put on for this week and the brilliant blue and gold sparkles caught my eye. This is actually just 1 coat of Absolutely Alice; I had painted a dark blue creme base underneath it. I think it intensifies the blue glitters so much more and my camera actually had problems focusing on my fingers due to the glitters sparkly everywhere!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And my haul for this week:

Ha ha ha! I spammed on the Heal Pharm nose strips. Previously when they had the offer on both the white and black versions, the whole onsugar blogosphere (Chantana especially, ha ha, thanks for the recommendations dear!) was raving about them. I bought a pack of the charcoal black ones to try and I immediately regretted not getting more, especially after they took off the promotion.

And now these white packs (not the black ones) are back on their S$2 offer! So I had to grab a few (one pack is actually for my friend to try out ^_^). I think these will easily last me half a year, so no more worries about nose strips for the time being!

Please go grab yours before all the stock run out, because I know a lot of Watsons branches already has these OOS!!! Thanks for viewing this post, take care people!

CNY 2011 LOTD Part 2

February 18, 2011 9:33 pm · 28 Views · Posted by Regis

Ha ha, that took quite a while, but let's continue with my CNY LOTDs!

Actually, there's only 1 more but I've got some cute doggie pictures which I can't resist not putting up.

Day 7's LOTD

(cos I finished up my visiting on that day while I slaved away in school on the other days)

Wait... Ha ha, you probably can't see the eye makeup with all my fringe in the way right? xD That's the problem with sporting heavy bangs, the makeup is all lost in the hair. =3=

Close-up of the eye:

It's a super simple look, cos I was in a hurry. Just used a glittery loose eye shadow all over the lids, some highlighting at the tear duct and brow, liquid eyeliner and Silkygirl's purple pencil eyeliner for the bottom lash line!

Here's a better pic, probably you can see the purple tinge more.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway, here comes the cute doggy pics! I wore the above look to a relative's place who had Bubbles, the cute tiny short-haired Chi Hua Hua!!!
Ha ha, she kept going round and round in a tizzy fit whenever I stepped into the kitchen, so it was really difficult to snap a cleat shot of her! I had to sit down and wait for a few minutes before she calmed down.
After which, she came snuggling up to me~
(aww.. bulbous eyes, how cute!)
And the epitome of the fondness we had for each other.
I pushed her away cos I didn't want her consuming all my BB cream and loose powder, but she seems to have taken a liking to the taste of cosmetics?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ha ha, last but not least, the nail colours I was sporting for that CNY week:

ORLY's "Space Cadet" on my fingers, and a bronzey-olive nail polish from Skin Food on my toes.

I love it when "Space Cadet" changes its colour to kinda match my toe nails. It's quite amusing, though it makes me look retarded (kept staring at my nails).

I'm trying my best to keep the posts coming despite my heavy school workload, but thanks for popping by and viewing this entry!

NOTD - Two Sided Nails

January 15, 2011 3:05 pm · 52 Views · Posted by Regis

I believe almost everyone has at least 2 sides to their personalities. It's our multi-faceted characteristics that make us all interesting and unique, non? I know I do - I behave totally different when I'm with different groups of people. But how exactly do I behave with each bunch? Well, that's for me to know and you to find out~ :P

Anyway, I was inspired to do this simple manicure from Urban (the weekly read that comes with The Straits Times). They were writing about the upcoming fashion trends for 2011 and apparently, manicures and nail art are still gonna be big this year! Yay! In it, they mentioned about painting the under side of your nails if you have long enough talons, so I decided to try it.

Here's the side of my nails that faces up (the side that you normally see):

Ha ha, it's all sweet and paddle pop-esque! I wanted to play with softer colours using the Etude House nail polishes I bought from my Malaysia trip. I quite sure it's not showing up in the pictures, but that bright blue polish actually has a green/gold reflux to it. It's a cool hologram/duochrome polish to wear!

And here's the under side, where I went for a more edgy deep green-orange combo. Also Etude House polishes. :)

(see that scratch on my 2nd finger? My cat did that, one temperamental afternoon.)

So it turns out like this:

Ha ha, corny but I think it's interesting! Excuse the screwed up image, my picture editor is still cranky. So that's the manicure that I've been spotting for the past week and since the polishes have not chipped at all and still look good, I've no intentions of switching them yet. I'll probably have to cut my naisl soon though, cos it's time to get down to making pineapple tarts! I make them in small batches to sell to friends. :D

Anyway, thanks for viewing people~

Year End 2010 Malaysia Haul

January 6, 2011 12:30 pm · 187 Views · Posted by Regis

My family and I always make it a point to holiday in Malaysia twice annually, to take a breather from SG and to selfishly satisfy my never-ending shopping cravings. So last week, we went on a 4 day-3 night shopping trip in KL and Sunway Pyramid!

Actually, I wasn't aiming on buying much cosmetics cos (and I'm really happy to announce this) I'm satisfied with all my makeup I have. I'm planning to seriously use some up before buying more. For now. I don't know how long my satisfaction with my stash will last though. The last "lust product" for me now is only the Urban Decay Naked palette (which I pathetically haven't gotten Q__Q )

But my primary goal for this trip was to get a full manicure and pedicure done! After attending the basic nail course in the nail school, I've always done my own mani's and pedi's but this time, I really wanted to be pampered. Hence, I scoured around Times Square Berjaya and found this nail parlor with very attractive rates! I got a full mani and pedi for just RM$66 (S$28) with 2 free nail art thrown in.

For the first time, I'm proudly showing you guys my troll feet!

[In sunlight]

\

[In indoor lighting]

The poor manicurist had to scrub and file at my feet for ages in order to get rid of all the cuticles and dead skin, but she did a fantastic job and for the first time in a long while, I had nice smooth feet~

This beautiful purple-blue duochrome polish is by Creative Nail Design (CND) but I didn't get the specific name. I absolutely love the strong blue shimmer that flashes when the light hits my nails, and the polish was very shiny even without top coat.

Here's a more accurate picture of the purple colour.

And my manicure, using my cat Mocha as a contrasting backdrop. And again, I forgot to get the name of the polish but it's something by China Glaze. Looks like the polish "Stellar" though, after much googling.

Gahh, how I love the gold glitter reflex in this polish. Even in low light, it shines so beautifully.

And here are the two free nail art I got (pretty white flowers)~

Definitely worth the RM$66 I'd say. I'm going back for another round the next time I go KL. :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My rojak haul.
And though I didn't go berserk on cosmetics, I lost it when it came to nail polish! When it's so friggin' cheap, how can you not haul?! (self-imposed nail polish ban for the year)
I love Etude House's glitter polish but they're kinda pricey in SG, so I always make it a point to stock up when I'm in M'sia. The pink and gold glitter polishes were RM$8.33 (S$3.53) after 30% off the retail price while the blue and peach duochrome-y polishes were RM$5.95 (S$2.53) after 50% off.
These two were RM$4.83 (S$2.05) each after 30% off.
Skinfood polishes are another korean polish brand that I love, especially for their neutral, earth-toned colours. Just don't get the carcinogenic ones. =x This two were RM$8.80 (S$3.73) each without any discount. Still cheap though, compared to SG's prices.
And another thing to haul in M'sia.. what else?? Ha ha, of course Daiso cosmetics!! Good to play with, really cheap prices and not available in SG.
I've always been quite impressed with the quality of Daiso e/s. This kind of pigmentation is awesome at only RM$5 (S$2.12) per palette.
Swatches of the colourful 9 shadow palette (one which my mom helped herself to).
The first 2 blue e/s here are swatches of the green pigment "Shiny Powder" (lol); the most left was swatched wet while the one next to it dry.
Swatches of the purple and blue quads.
Note that all swatches were done without a primer/base, so these are their true pigmentation.
Jewelry that I bought, 3 rings and 2 bracelets for RM$30 (S$12.72) only! They had some crazy discount thing going on.
And the 2 products I aimed to buy for this trip, my eye cream and eye drops.
Ha ha, what a lengthy post! *yawn* In a nutshell, when you go shopping in Malaysia, please do not hold back. Technically, you're saving loads!
Anyway, thanks for looking even though it was sooo draggy, cheers everyone!
NOTD - Black Christmas
December 22, 2010 12:41 pm · 44 Views · Posted by Regis
I went kinda psycho last night. Instead of studying for my last paper (YESSSSS, finally), I spent 2 hours adorning my nails for them to be worthy of the upcoming christmas celebrations!
Ahh, exams, just let Santa Claus screw you.
Presenting my very glittery, very elaborate set of festive nails! Classic too~
Sparkly sparkly holographic awesomeness~~~
The black was actually Manglaze's Matte black polish, but I painted Poshe's top coat over it and it became a nice shimmery black. :) Who says the polish is only for veiny man hands? Mine's such a girly rendition.
The ribbon design (I love how it resembles gift wrappings) was done with my Konad set and China Glaze's "Millennium" Khrome polish. The glittery tips are with Etude House's glitter polish.
Lastly, when you have such gorgeous nails, who wouldn't like hiding your face behind them? I sure don't mind (since they look a whole lot better than my face).
Hope you like the design as much as I do, and thanks for reading this short post! Tootles lovely people!!
