Sephora LOTD - Sunset Eyes

July 23, 2011 1:41 am · 28 Views · Posted by Regis

Once again, a very back-dated LOTD but do enjoy the post, nonetheless!

I super love the blush I had on here! It's a warm peachy-orange shade, a mixture of 2 Make Up For Ever blushes that I used. I thought it complimented the look very well, definitely very hawaii-like!

Close-up of the eyes:

I also super like this colour combi! If I could (and if I had the time and patience), I would do this eye look everyday!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Additionally, I was messing around with the OPI Shatter polishes.
And I finally found a shatter combi that I like!
I think white shatter over sparkling silver polish is so cool! It doesn't look so..."slipshod", in fact, I think it looks a tad classy! I'd love to pair nails like these with a white chronograph watch! My colleague digs the turquoise shatter-over-yellow combi though. Shall consider getting the white shatter when I'm in the States next month.
Anyway, thanks for looking people!
NOTD - Grungey Houndstooth
April 2, 2011 5:52 pm · 33 Views · Posted by Regis
It's been a while since I've last sported intricate designs on my nails, partly due to me not having enough time/patience to paint my nails properly and also because I dig solid-coloured nails. :)
But I have been wearing this design for the last 2 weeks (gasp! Broke my 1-week routine) before finally taking it off this weekend!
My left hand:
And my right:
I kinda went asymmetrical by printing the houndstooth design on different fingers on both hands. The gorgeous red colour is OPI's "The Show Must Go On" and the black was some random black (goopy) polish, which I used for my konading.
I love how the red polish flashes orange at certain angles! It's like you're getting a different houndstooth design everytime.
And also how the black design makes the red look more cool-toned while the other fingers look warmer. I'm a sucker for multi-dimensional nail polishes. :)
So a quick update on what I did last Sunday:
I went to donate blood. It's my 7th time and I'm sooo aiming for that 10-time medal, woots! But it was my first time feeling light-headed after the donation. Hmm, normally it doesn't happen; must be due to that time of the month.
And also I made this collage of my cat! (pardon the noob editing skills, I had to make do with whatever basic image programme I had ;__;)
Ha ha, hope you enjoyed this little post! Thanks for looking and take care y'all!
NOTD - Chocolate and Alice
February 20, 2011 1:40 pm · 34 Views · Posted by Regis
Yeah, I know the title sucks but these are my 2 Nail-of-the-dayWeek (NOTWs) that I've been sporting after CNY. A quick post, cos I don't have much time on my hands and I've got tons of school work to catch up on. Sometimes, I hate my lazy self.
NOTD #1 - Skin Food's Nail Vita Polish
I don't know, they don't give names to their polishes (or at least if they do, it's in Korean and I don't read Korean). It's along the brown, neutral, mushroom-like range of shades and I love love LOVE this polish. Ha ha, besides the point that it makes my fingers look like yummy blocks of chocolate! :d
It glows differently under different lighting, because it's got these minuscule gold sparkles floating around in its rich brown cream base colour.
Under indoor lighting:
Under strong sunlight:
Had to show you guys the large picture, cos the gold shimmer is just so pretty! I was a tad reluctant to take off this polish after wearing it for 1 week.
But I had to cause it's my routine, and I changed it to this:
Yep, it's the "long time no see" Absolutely Alice fro OPI!
I was rummaging through my drawer to see what polish to put on for this week and the brilliant blue and gold sparkles caught my eye. This is actually just 1 coat of Absolutely Alice; I had painted a dark blue creme base underneath it. I think it intensifies the blue glitters so much more and my camera actually had problems focusing on my fingers due to the glitters sparkly everywhere!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And my haul for this week:

Ha ha ha! I spammed on the Heal Pharm nose strips. Previously when they had the offer on both the white and black versions, the whole onsugar blogosphere (Chantana especially, ha ha, thanks for the recommendations dear!) was raving about them. I bought a pack of the charcoal black ones to try and I immediately regretted not getting more, especially after they took off the promotion.

And now these white packs (not the black ones) are back on their S$2 offer! So I had to grab a few (one pack is actually for my friend to try out ^_^). I think these will easily last me half a year, so no more worries about nose strips for the time being!

Please go grab yours before all the stock run out, because I know a lot of Watsons branches already has these OOS!!! Thanks for viewing this post, take care people!

NOTD - Pastel French and "Zhng-ed" Toes

November 23, 2010 11:42 am · 72 Views · Posted by Regis

I seriously do not know what my title is trying to say but it's the best concisive thing I could think of.

First up, gonna show you guys my (in Xiaxue's terms) "zhhnng-ed" troll toes. :)

The bling on my big toe..

...and the flowers of the little ones. :)

Ha ha, I feel embarrassed for exhibiting such girly adornments on such ugly toes! I change the nail polish on my toes on a monthly basis, and I think I kinda overdid it this time. Festive season coming soon mah! Oh btw, the red polish is OPI's "The Show Must Go On".

On top of that, I did a French mani for my fingers!

My left hand...

..and my right hand.

Yeah, I swapped around the colours to make things more interesting. And notice the teo diagonal dotted lines on my index and middle fingers?

They werer done solely for this purpose:

Ha ha, so that there'll be another mini "peace" sign when I make the "peace" sign with my fingers! Ahh, randomness, I know. :)

So that's my mani and pedi overhaul for now, thanks for looking people!

NOTD - Rubies In A Chest (Gradient Nails Attempt)

October 24, 2010 1:30 pm · 261 Views · Posted by Regis

Sharp-eyed Regina (Littlefrozengirl) noticed my nails in my Gyaru post before I could even post up this entry, ha ha! So yeah, it's a little belated, but here's the NOTD that I've been rocking out for the past week. :)

Featuring OPI's "The Show Must Go On" and Skin Food's Nail Vita (some olive-gold polish). A very hot mess of flaming, rich colours!

This is another "Gradient Nail" attempt, that didn't really look that gradiented... but I really like the colour combi!

Especially when it's like this:

When the orange duochrome of "The Show Must Go On" appears, it melds so well with the other olive-gold half.

And the nonsensical mess of colours that I am now~ :)

Who cares if my toes and fingers are clashing? I'm loving all of it!! Thanks for looking, cheers!

Haul - Sasa Sale @ JP and Nail Polishes

October 21, 2010 6:04 pm · 83 Views · Posted by Regis

I've been quite good to my wallet lately, because ever since school started, my temp job income has stopped and my pocket money isn't exactly haul-friendly. Not that I'm lambasting my parents or anything, cos I really dislike to still be depending on them for money. Hmph... But anyway, the only downfall to my stringent allowance control are sales. If there's anything going cheap, I'll be the first one down to sniffle out the goodies.

This explains the items I got from the recent Sasa sale at JP, and a Threadless spree I joined (who can resist cute $10 T-shirts?!). The other items I deem as necessities. :) Nice word, I gotta use it more often.

Thanks to Diana's tip, I got the lashes super cheap (2 boxes for S$1.99 vs retail price of S$12.90 each).

Close-ups of the lashes. I'm so digging the bottom pair with the crystals and black stars!

And of course, I couldn't resist the bottle of nail polish with its unique mother-of-pearl colour (S$1 a bottle).

Necessity No.1, sunscreen! Thought the texture wasn't too bad, so I decided to give it a go. Didn't want to continue with the Biore series after Charlene alerted me to the alcohol content.

And necessity No.2, base and top coats! What will we, nail polish junkies, do without them? *sigh*

Decided to give Poshe a whizz after finishing up my Seche Vite. Shall compare these most popular top coats soon!

Necessi And my OPI Burlesque (The Show Must Go On & Sparkle-iscious) and Man Glaze (Matte Is Murder) polishes arrived, courtesy of Pris from teaplayground!

Gahh!! *spazzes* They're downright, in-out BEAUTIFUL!!! Sparkly sparkly~

And I simply adore the design on the Man Glaze label! Veiny-hands, so chic, who can resist?!

And being super excited as I was then, I swatched all the polishes immediately!

Well, I wiped off Sparkle-iscious off the 3rd finger after gawping at it cos glitter polishes are a PITA to get off once they set. And I painted 1 coat of Poshe Top Coat on the Matte Is Murder finger...

Yeah, ok, I know I mutilated the swatches, sue me. :p

Ha ha, I have a few more items to post up, but for now this haul post shall end here. Thanks for sharing my money-spending moment, everyone!

Sephora Ramblings Part 8

July 1, 2010 11:02 pm · 83 Views · Posted by Regis

Once again, I'm being a happy-go-lucky, walking OPI advertisement!

Swatches of the latest OPI nail polishes that we've just brought into the store~

On my left hand are 5 of the Shrek Forever collection colours. Can't remember the names, except some "Funky Dunkey" and "Cat-titude"thing. Even though I initially thought the green on my thumb was a strange shade of vomit, it's starting to grow on me. Weird, maybe I have a hidden vomit fetish...

On my right hand I have 4 of the Summer Flutter colours, and "Fiercely Fiona" (finally remembered one of the Shrek names, just because it's a yellow polish) on my little pinky. I totally dig the aqua blue shimmer, the red-pink shimmer and the cream pink shades! These went on beautifully smooth and look so pretty. The neon orange shade however didn't impress me; it was a bit thin and streaky. Same goes for the "Fiona" polish.

But right now I've a set of incredibly colourful and totally mismatching fingers, and I like that. Good way of catching people's attention and promoting OPI~

Just a side note:

Clarence Lee, Andy Lee (makeup artists) and a few of their friends dropped by this afternoon.

When Clarence first walked in quietly, I was staring at his hair, cause it was in this really weird cut! Lol, like buzz cut on the sides and shoulder length from the front to the back, in which he pulled up into a strange semi-bun with a tail hanging out. It was queer to see this on a man with a baby face, that sported a moustache as well...

Weird, but definitely funny! Then a bunch of Sephora's office people came down to join them and it wasn't long before the whole store was swarming with makeup artists and a few of our superiors. Stress, I tell you! I mainly just kept out of sight (out of mind) till they were done poking and prodding at the products.

Other notable celebrities that have dropped by so far was Melody Chen (I served her and saw her whip out her "Beautiful People VIP discount card" during payment. 20% off storewide leh! Lifestyle of the rich and the famous, haiz...), 98.7 FM ex-DJ Carrie Chong, and some Hong Kong actress whom I was oblivious to until my Malaysian colleague came scooting over and started fan-girling to me about her.

That's that for now, thanks for reading!

This is what happens when there's a lack of customers and beauty advisors have nothing to do...

We go crazy swatching nail polishes!

My excuse is really that I'm being a walking OPI advertisement. :)

NOTD - Mad As A Hatter

April 4, 2010 7:30 pm · 116 Views · Posted by Regis

I'm seriously as mad as a hatter to change nails colours within 3 days. Ok, word pun over!

Honestly... I should stop this pun streak of mine.

A close up.

This one was taken facing strong sunlight. :)

Mad As A Hatter is such a beautiful polish! The glitter payoff is ASTOUNDING! I tell you, the person who invented this formulation should be awarded the Nobel Prize. See the sparkles? It's eye-blinding with all its multi-coloured glory. And all of this is with only 1 coat of the polish!

I finally get it - the difference between high-end polishes and chapalang brands! *snuggles OPI polish bottles*

But saying that, underneath this glitter is 1 coat of Elianto Black Nail Polish, which only costed me RM$1. They had their promotion thing going on the last time so I got it. The polish was thick and goopy when I dig it out  this afternoon. Thank goodness there's the amazing Mad As A Hatter to cover it. Finally, 2 thick coats of Seche Vite to finish it off. The top coat in this case is a must, as the glitter is really chunky and you risk getting it everywhere if you don't protect it with some thick top coat.

Cheers, everyone!

OPI Mini Haul + NOTD

April 2, 2010 8:11 pm · 34 Views · Posted by Regis

It really is mini!

Cos I bought the OPI Alice In Wonderland Set of Mini Polishes. And 1 set only, at that.

Ah ha. Ah ha ha ha...

Ok, never mind, pun over. After hearing that the Alice In Wonderland series had been discontinued, I went into lacquer panic mode, cos at that point of time I was contemplating to get "Absolutely Alice" and "Mad As A Hatter". And as expected, once news of the discontinuation got around, those 2 polishes that I wanted began to go out-of-stock. Understandable, cos they both are really pretty varnishes and have been extremely popular.

I checked Lacquer Haven out but they didn't have "Mad As A Hatter" anymore. Only "Off with Her Red, "Thanks So Muchness" and limited bottles of "Absolutely Alice". Then I checked Nail Vibe and they still had the mini sets, so I just bought one. Better for experimenting all 4 colours.

The mail came very fast, just 1 day after I paid for my order. I feel that recently, all the postmen have been working very hard, damn hardcore! Of course the service from Nail Vibe was also very prompt.

They included some emery boards as free gifts, which I thought was really sweet. Initially, I felt that they were quite rude when I emailed them my enquiries (it's always about the tone of voice and the sentence structure) but I guess these made up for it. That, and the fast service.

The set of 4 mini's, 3.75 ml per bottle. I believe many of you have already seen OPI mini's, they are so friggin' cute! They look almost toy-like.

The description on the back.

I re-painted my nails red after sporting greens, blues and purples on my nails for a few consecutive weeks.

And a close up! On my index and ring finger (1st and 3rd finger) is "Thanks So Muchness" while the middle and pinky finger is "Off With Her Red". The polishes went on real smoothly, especially the latter, and the colour is really intense. All fingers were painted with 2 thick coats. The extreme shininess is proudly presented by Seche Vite, though the OPI polishes were pretty shiny themselves without any top coat.

Thanks for reading! I have a few more posts coming right up!
