Guyliner-Inspired

December 30, 2009 11:48 pm · 11 Views · Posted by Regis

1st thing to start off the post.

I love Adam Lambert. I blardy love Adam Lambert.

Gosh, not in the stalker-I-wanna-marry-you kind of way, but I just really like his music and style. An honest, innocent kind of way, ha ha ha!

So the other day my guy friend was asking me on tips to draw guyliner (the male's version of eyeliner) and I was like "Hey, this sounds interesting~" Plus, I think Adam Lambert totally rocks the look. His smokily-rimmed blue eyes are to die for. Well, if I can't have the eyes, might as well be content with the liner!

So here's my take on it!

Items used:

NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean

88 Palette Matte Black Colour

Daiso Blush in Orange

Pigeon baby Face Powder in Beige (It gives that pale but iridescent glow to the face)

Nude lipliner + Silkygirl's lipgloss in Juicy Glitter

Curls in hair noob-ly tonged by me using Watsons ceramic curling iron .___.

Hope you liked this look, cheers~

Green + Red = ?

Ha ha, I had a whole day to myself yesterday, so what better to do then to mess around with my new 88 palette! I had loads of fun doing 2 looks, one from Sarah from faces By Sarah and another from a Michelle Phan video.

Look #1: Sarah Chaudhry's Green - specially catered to people using the 88 colour palette.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3ntpLN5j-0&feature=related

I learnt it from her YouTube video, and that was what I got on my 1st try. :] It's such a vibrant mixture of greens, and I thought I did.. not bad. However, when I walked into my mom's room (she was rubbing in lotion), she took 1 glance at me and said "Wahh, you got punched in the eye? Why orh ceh there?" LOL! But Sarah's a pretty inspirational teacher, so go watch her vid and master this look. ^^ (hope Sarah doesn't mind me putting the link here)

Tip: In her video, Sarah actually uses a tape to create that clean line for the eyeshadow. I didn't have any cosmetic tape and I was hesitant on placing normal scotch tape on my lids so what I did was, I just did the eyeshadows and when it was completed, I took a Q tip, soaked it in makeup remover and just used it to draw the line and erase whatever I didn't want. No tugging whatsoever on the eyes. ^^

Look #2: Michelle Phan's Seductive Vampire

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qg-2rDnWCJA

I fell in love with this look when I 1st saw it on YouTube. It really made your eyes look rusty-blood red with a mysterious quality to them. I think I came across the vid from Sara's (icyabstract) blog. Well, the red didn't show up well in the pictures above, but it's subtly there. I thought it made a great smokey-eye look though!

And here's me rocking the 2 looks simultaneously! Ah ha ha, I decided to just do 1 look per eye (save time, makeup and makeup remover =x), so I went walking around the house the rest of the day looking like this. ^^ Hope you guys enjoyed this entry, cheers~

Haul from Malaysia

December 29, 2009 12:09 am · 44 Views · Posted by Regis

*warning: word and image heavy

Alrighty, so I went to KL with my family 2 weeks back and I spent quite a bit, grabbing christmas presents for my friends and cosmetics for myself. Ha ha, just couldn't resist it, the exchange rate was awesome and everything was super cheap. I shall prove to you why in a moment's time.

The first thing I hauled was 6 eyeshadow pans from Elianto. Gawd, I love that shop and.. I'm pretty sure they love me too, cause I spent a bomb there .__. The colours were Golden Yellow, Olive Green, Coral Pink, Mandarin Orange, Irish Coffee and Ivory Black. Ohh.. wow, I just realized half the colours I got were food items. *self-amusement*

Yeah, the pigmentation is fantastic though some colours like the yellow can be a bit chalky. I pair up the yellow and orange to do a sunny, bright look when I wear red/orange clothes out, and I pair the coral pink and brown for a softer, feminine look for evenings. Great stuff, and they only cost RM $6 each, which comes up to about S$2.50.

And I just had to do it. I decorated the back of the CD case with a collage I made of the eyeshadow boxes. So aunty right? But I felt it was so wasted to just throw the pretty boxes away, so yeah.

I also got a bottle of eyelash glue, a sana 39mm eyelash curler, and an Elianto pressed powder refill. The eyelash curler is dead cheap - I got it for RM$3.50 which is, like, S$1.46...? It was originally RM $7 in Sinma but they were having a storewide 50% discount. And I saw spree pages selling them for S$6.90, hmm. The Elianto PP cost RM $12.50 but I think i got it in the wrong shade. It blends well into my jawline when I tried it, but somehow it dulls my face when I use it all over. i think it's a shade too dark, how now...?

By the way, take a closer look at the eyelash glue!

Ah ha ha ha, "Eye Mucus", WTH! "So that you reflect the sexy eyes" some more. This tickled me to death when I saw it. That being said, this product comes from China so their english can be a bit inaccurate. This brand is from the Flamingo line of lengthening mascaras so i think it should be pretty safe. I got it for RM $5.

A box set of 13 "My Beauty Diary" face masks for RM $16. There's the chocolate mask, the pearl powder mask and the strawberry yoghurt mask, plus an extra piece of premium camellia mask thrown in. Yeah, I know it's crazily cheap. But I beginning to doubt its authenticity, even though I double-checked with the store owner that it comes from Taiwan. The box looks a bit different from the ones that are selling in SG's Guardian and I can't seem to find the place of manufacture anywhere on the box.

And finally, here is evidence! To show that things really are so much cheaper in M'sia.

Majolica Majorca's Lash Expander Frame Plus. It retails in SG's Watsons for S$25.90 but I got it for RM $39.90, which is S$16. A whole S$10 in savings, my jaw literally dropped when I calculated this out. See? Everyone should go M'sia to buy MM's mascara. And this mascara is simply fantastic! It not only lengthens my lashes, it actually holds the curl for hours on end after I curl them with my eyelash curler. Nice! (might as well promote Coffee Prince in the background as well, it's a superb Korean show)

So yeah, hope you enjoyed the entry! Cheers~

Neutrals + NOTD

December 28, 2009 5:50 pm · 9 Views · Posted by Regis

Alright, here's the subtle neutral look I did on Sat. The 1st look I did with my newly arrived 88 colour palette. :] Just swash on a base coat of light orange, a bit of peach, then colour in a dark brown into the outer corners, and voila! Oh, and don't forget the eye liner and the highlights. I simply dampened my angled brush and used the black eyeshadow to do my liner.  For the highlights, I used the lightest white shade there was. So everything was from the palette.

The camera tends to wash the colour out a bit so it looks really faint here. But in real-life, I think it's dark enough so... yeah.

And my NOTD

A blacked-tipped french manicure. :D I love the stickies, but I forgot where I got them from... =___=

Later on, I'll either be writing about my cosmetic haul from Malaysia (need to snap some pics of the stuff but my camera is down on juice), or the 88 palette sarah chaudhry and michelle phan looks I did just a while ago. I look positively hideous now with the heavy eye makeup and my pimply face, lol!

Cheers~

Silkygirl Lipgloss Bargain

December 28, 2009 2:51 am · 21 Views · Posted by Regis

Ohh yes, before I forget! I got these, both for S$7.90

.

Silkygirl's Juicy Fruity Lipgloss in Peach Nectar and Juicy Glitter. It was a buy-1-get-1-free deal at Guardian, which I thought was extremely worth it so i just grabbed them before they were OOS. I got them last week at White Sands Guardian; I don't know if the glosses have gone OOS and I also don't think all Guardians have this offer so if you do see this, just check it out. The lipglosses are pretty good.

Cheers!

88 Eyeshadow Palette

December 28, 2009 1:41 am · 17 Views · Posted by Regis

Gahhh! I love this palette so much~   ~3~

Just received my 88 palette yesterday after waiting 'patiently' for 3 weeks. I ordered it from http://makeupsg.blogspot.com/ at a deadly cheap price of S$21.00, plus mailing. Why deadly? Cause I'll be tempted to get more palettes, which will kill both my bank account and me.

So yeah, I was ripping off the packaging and swatching the colours after retrieving from my mailbox. Thought it was kinda like a belated christmas gift to myself. Ahh, self-love rocks.

So pretty~ Anyways, I'm not sure if it's authentic coastalscents. i doubt so, even though I vaguely remember makeupsg saying something about coastalscents.. Hmm, then again, CS gets their goods from China so how authentic can they get? Time for swatches!

Can't resist, had to include my spastic face in it .__. The pigmentation is really good, and they have really nice greens and blues in the palette. I'm sure many of you already own one (or more) but I'm just sharing my excitement with you guys. It's a good deal, no?

And... I also got my e.l.f brushes, 3 for S$10. So cheap, so good~  ^3^

I've still got some stuff I wanna write about, including the 1st neutral look I did with this palette, as well as a cosmetic haul I got from Malaysia. but I shall stop at here first.

P.S. Is it just me or it's a pain to upload images..? Cause I had to upload 1 by 1. Is there another faster way to upload the pictures? Do tell me, all you experience onsugarettes out there. Take care, y'all!

Huzzah!

Hey there, everyone :]

(I may be talking to myself, since I'm not even sure if people would bother reading my blog... ahh well.)

I'm new here, and after mucking around for some time on a few onsugar beauty blogs, I've decided to start my own as well. Erm, I really don't know what else to say... I can be lazy to write so some of my posts may be short and sweet; I can also be awfully long-winded.

But the main thing is, I would like to share my cosmetic endeavors (or misfortunes) as well as other slice-of-life stuff, so yeah! That's a good enough reason right? I do actually hope people come read this blog and give me constructive comments, so dozo yorushiku everyone.
