New L'oreal E/S Quads??

October 29, 2010 11:48 pm · 37 Views · Posted by Regis

After enduring a whole tiring week of school, I'd always release stress by popping by Watsons or Guardian to see what new stuff there is. And these are what I spotted this afternoon!

(sorry for the lousy quality pics, I took them hastily with my LG handphone)

New L'oreal Eyeshadow quads??? I'm blur as always, so I'm not sure if they're newly released or something, but I haven't seen them around before. A quick search online told me that there's no one in SG that have discussed about these quads yet. So far, I've only seen a few posts on some German beauty blogs (so maybe it was released earlier in Europe or something). Waiting for the sales people to open the testers so that I can swatch them! :D

And I spy with my little eye...

... a new L'oreal foundation case! Ha ha, they're always coming out with really cute designs but unfortunately, I don't use foundation so, nope, they don't apply for me. :)

...and it seems like the Watsons Beauty Buffet thing is back! There were so many Silkygirl items on sale, like 3 for S$20 and stuff. I had a quick look-around Watsons and there were other stuff going for 3 for S$10/S$20/$30 too, but nothing interested me so far. Except these, they're super affordable now! Do check out the promotion if you're thinking of getting some Silkygirl products.

LOTD + OOTD - Soft Cut-Crease, Minimalist

October 29, 2010 2:14 am · 63 Views · Posted by Regis

This is a really belated LOTD (I actually wore it last week), but since cut-creases have been picking up popularity lately, I shall just feature this. Also, it kinda complemented my outfit that day - I was keeping it clean and simple.

The eye makeup:

Coordinating the whole monochromatic colour code, even with my nails.

I noticed that cut-creases do give the illusion of having double eyelids, which monolid-ders like me really appreciate. Anything to make our eyes look bigger and more attractive, ho ho! Also, I love pairing the whole look with a touch of highlight - gives me just the right glow!

A

And my OOTD:

Ha ha, full body white! SNSD much???

I still can't believe that I dare wear a fully-white outfit, cos let's admit it, white makes us look fatter. But strangely enough, I feel more sophisticated and dare I say, smexy in it..? Oh well, I'm still digging the full-body white trend thing, so let's work it while we're still in the groove! Thanks for reading guys, take care y'all!

A Dedication... (Non-cosmetic related)

October 26, 2010 1:50 am · 93 Views · Posted by Regis

Today marks exactly one year since my beloved pooch, Mickey, has passed away.

He's moved on to a nicer place on 26/10/2009, a place filled with bak kwa and dried cuttlefish strips (his favourite snacks) and days filled with constant walks and snoozing in the sun.

I loved how his eyes shone green instead of red when we snapped pictures of him. Red-eyed dogs just scares me, but Mickey was too cute to be scary.

I literally grew up with him, cos -->> *insert Taylor Swift's "Love Story" song* we were both young when I first saw you~ Ha ha, that was when my parents and I went to his mommy's place to pick out puppies, and we choose him out of a litter of 5-6 pups. I was 6 years old then, and he was a newborn who could barely open his little beady eyes.

Being with Mickey for 15 years made it impossible for me to forget even the minute details about him..

.. I loved his big, black, wet nose with its rough textured whorls and nostrils.

.. I loved his soft, glimmering fur that had waves at his thigh area.

.. I loved his twirly-patterned fur at his backside and his snubby tail.

.. I loved how he drooled and begged for food whenever the family is having dinner.

And I loved how well he got along with my cat, Mocha.

Towards the end, we saw him grow weaker and weaker as he battled age and his failing body. But he still had an immensely powerful fighting spirit, never letting it get him down. He even begged for food scraps at the dining table during his last few days!

He fought to the end when we decided to put him to sleep to ease his suffering. And I'm proud that my dog was such a fighter. I never really cried when I knew he was gone, cos I knew he had a good life for 15 long years and he wouldn't have any regrets going.

Ha ha, in fact, I still joke about how he seems to be lingering in the house whenever there's a sudden stench in the house. "Wahh, did Mickey just fart in spirit or something?"

Whatever it is, I still love my dog Mickey and I still miss him dearly, especially on this day. I hope he's still having fun in doggy heaven.

xoxo,

your 'sister' and playmate

NOTD - Rubies In A Chest (Gradient Nails Attempt)

October 24, 2010 1:30 pm · 293 Views · Posted by Regis

Sharp-eyed Regina (Littlefrozengirl) noticed my nails in my Gyaru post before I could even post up this entry, ha ha! So yeah, it's a little belated, but here's the NOTD that I've been rocking out for the past week. :)

Featuring OPI's "The Show Must Go On" and Skin Food's Nail Vita (some olive-gold polish). A very hot mess of flaming, rich colours!

This is another "Gradient Nail" attempt, that didn't really look that gradiented... but I really like the colour combi!

Especially when it's like this:

When the orange duochrome of "The Show Must Go On" appears, it melds so well with the other olive-gold half.

And the nonsensical mess of colours that I am now~ :)

Who cares if my toes and fingers are clashing? I'm loving all of it!! Thanks for looking, cheers!

Haul - Sasa Sale @ JP and Nail Polishes

October 21, 2010 6:04 pm · 85 Views · Posted by Regis

I've been quite good to my wallet lately, because ever since school started, my temp job income has stopped and my pocket money isn't exactly haul-friendly. Not that I'm lambasting my parents or anything, cos I really dislike to still be depending on them for money. Hmph... But anyway, the only downfall to my stringent allowance control are sales. If there's anything going cheap, I'll be the first one down to sniffle out the goodies.

This explains the items I got from the recent Sasa sale at JP, and a Threadless spree I joined (who can resist cute $10 T-shirts?!). The other items I deem as necessities. :) Nice word, I gotta use it more often.

Thanks to Diana's tip, I got the lashes super cheap (2 boxes for S$1.99 vs retail price of S$12.90 each).

Close-ups of the lashes. I'm so digging the bottom pair with the crystals and black stars!

And of course, I couldn't resist the bottle of nail polish with its unique mother-of-pearl colour (S$1 a bottle).

Necessity No.1, sunscreen! Thought the texture wasn't too bad, so I decided to give it a go. Didn't want to continue with the Biore series after Charlene alerted me to the alcohol content.

And necessity No.2, base and top coats! What will we, nail polish junkies, do without them? *sigh*

Decided to give Poshe a whizz after finishing up my Seche Vite. Shall compare these most popular top coats soon!

Necessi And my OPI Burlesque (The Show Must Go On & Sparkle-iscious) and Man Glaze (Matte Is Murder) polishes arrived, courtesy of Pris from teaplayground!

Gahh!! *spazzes* They're downright, in-out BEAUTIFUL!!! Sparkly sparkly~

And I simply adore the design on the Man Glaze label! Veiny-hands, so chic, who can resist?!

And being super excited as I was then, I swatched all the polishes immediately!

Well, I wiped off Sparkle-iscious off the 3rd finger after gawping at it cos glitter polishes are a PITA to get off once they set. And I painted 1 coat of Poshe Top Coat on the Matte Is Murder finger...

Yeah, ok, I know I mutilated the swatches, sue me. :p

Ha ha, I have a few more items to post up, but for now this haul post shall end here. Thanks for sharing my money-spending moment, everyone!

LOTD + HOTD - The Day I Went (kinda) Gyaru

October 19, 2010 2:46 pm · 220 Views · Posted by Regis

[Warning: LOTS of selca-whore pics! Please don't view unless you don't mind your internet slowing to a crawl.]

I remember telling you guys a while back, that I would experiment with curling my hair with the straightening iron that I have. Haven't gotten around to do it due to the mountain of schoolwork but I finally tried it yesterday, since it's like term break and all!

In the end, I just ended up looking like some Jap gyaru wannabe.

Office lady much???

Here's how the curls came out. For a first time curling mid-length hair, I thought it wasn't too bad at all.

(Pardon the arm fat-fold)

Then, of course, since we're in the mood, might as well do some cliche poses!

Part 1) The Aegyo pose

Korean version (aka the infamous "Gee" pose)

Japanese version (aka pursed lips, Ayumi duck-mouth pose)

Part 2) The Emo pose

Part 3) My favourite part, the candid shots!

NG 1

Intermittent break...

...and NG 2!

Ha ha, I had lots of fun doing the weird poses!

And then, because of the incredibly warm weather, I tied up my hair and.. tada, another style!

The very simple makeup I had on:

- L'oreal gel eyeliner, Covergirl Lash Blast mascara, some random pink blush, Stage WonderLuxe Lippie and NYX Megashien Lipgloss (no foundation)

- GEO Contact Lenses in Grey

Sorry for the pic spam!!! I had so much fun doing the hair and taking the pics that I snapped 190 pics in all, I think. Ha ha!!! Thanks for looking~

LOTD - Vamped Up

October 16, 2010 9:12 pm · 56 Views · Posted by Regis

After discovering the home-made dark lip colour technique, I was super excited to put it to use, so I decided to goth things up a bit for my friend's solmenization! After all, darker colours are suitable for evening events no?

Here's the look under indoor lighting...

...and in outdoor lighting.

The eye makeup I had on.

Actually, I layered a lot of colours in an attempt to create a more complex look, but it all melted into a plummy purple. FML. =__= but I did do a double-winged liner to match the edgier image I was going for.

Cam-whoring pic spam!

I love how the darker lip colour made my lips stand out, and how it complimented the purple eye makeup. Perfect for the night's solemnization with a lot of picture-taking!

Last pic to show the overall look/feel!

I dig the dark lips. Haiz, really wish I can get my hands on some black lip gloss now. Since MAC lip glasses are currently out of my budget, where's a cherryculture sale when I need one?!?!

Anyway, thanks for reading! Take care everyone~

Home-made Black Lip Colour???

October 15, 2010 9:32 pm · 214 Views · Posted by Regis

Yeap, necessity is the mother of all inventions. And I need a black lipgloss badly! I can't stop thinking about black lip glosses - I think about them when I trawl through the net for swatches, I think of them as I lie in bed and slowly falling into dream land, I dream of them, I wake up in the morning with my head full of "black-lip-gloss" thoughts, yada yada.

The want need stemmed from looking at this 1.5 weeks back:

[Credits go to Temptalia~ See her beautiful face? :D]

Gahh, the loveliness of MAC's "Wrong Spell" lip gloss! Yeah, I know it's a deep DEEP burgundy with plum/bronzy undertones, but a black lip gloss would be cooler no? Actually I was looking for a dupe of this lip gloss before I digressed into black ones. *shrugs* Either way, I want something like this.

I do think NYX has a couple of Megashine lip glosses which are pretty close dupes, like "Deep Bronze", "Vixen" and "Black". Somehow, "Black" seems to be discontinued while I'm impatiently waiting for Cherryculture to have another 20% discount sale.

So I decided to do some experimenting on my own~

And here's what I ended up with:

It's a lot darker/goth-ier in real life, the camera just washes out all the colour in the strong afternoon sun.

Full face pics, without a single ounce of makeup on! Eyebags, dayum~

And my favourite pic outta' the whole lot!

So what did I do???

Basically, I just dabbed a bit of MAC's "Beauty Marked" e/s over my lip balm, then top it off with a lip gloss. Yes, that's how desperate I was to get dark lips!!! It never really occurred to me that e/s can be applied on the lips, and I a little hesitant - what if the e/s felt awful and all gritty on my lips? What if it tasted bad?? What if it dried my tongue out???

Well, none of that happened. In fact, I would say that if you really want to put e/s on your lips, use good quality ones like those from MAC. I hardly felt anything with it on - no gritty-ness, no powdery-ness, no taste. And a little bit of "Beauty Marked" goes a long way! I dabbed on too much at first and looked like I got punched in the lip and it was rotting away.

Ohh, forgot to add in, this is the comparison pic with and without the black lip colour. Left without, right with. :)

If you dig a deeper lip colour, you can always dab on more e/s but I was fine with this amount. Don't wanna appear goth! Anyway, this is just a cheapo, temporary solution to my black lip colour want, until I get my hands on something (thinking of Lancome's Juicy Tube in "Icon of Stage").

And to prove that it works, I actually wore it out to my friend's solemnization! That will be the next post though, a LOTD with dark lips. Stay tuned!

John Little Expo Sale - La Senza, So Cheap!

October 13, 2010 8:08 pm · 98 Views · Posted by Regis

Ha ha, I can't believe I stuck with such an auntie title but ahh well~ It's true wat; we shouldn't hide the truth right?

Anyway, here's me posting up the small haul I had over the weekend at the JL Expo sale.

First up, a La Senza Henley. I was digging how it made me look like a jailmate, and the silver words at the side until I realised...

... it wrote "Heart Breaker". =___= I'm hardly one, so I believe I won't be able to live up to this top's statement.

Ohh well, at least I'll be a criminal-heart breaker-wannabe lookalike! Heh! 8D

Next up, I got boobie shields. How can you not get them when you're at a La Senza sale???

I got re-fitted by the sale rep there; as expected, I was wearing the wrong band size. No wonder my previous shields kept riding up. These feel wonderfully comfortable, and I love both designs! One is so girly and the other so... ... SPICY! Ha ha ha, snakeskin print!

My mom took a glance at them and went "Wahhh! Snakeprint!" *shoots me suggestive look*

Anyway, those 3 items cost me only S$36. Major savings! Look at the original price:

S$145 --> S$36??? Mad awesome!

The other stuff I got was my ZA Tinted Moisturizer...

(had to get shade 30 instead of usual 20, cos they ran out. No matter, since I use it as a colourant anyway. ZA is discontinuing this product so I better get 1 backup)

... and my mom's truck load of St. Ives Moisturizer. She goes through this stuff like us drinking water.

That's all for now! I'm super excited for the next 2 posts cos I kinda discovered a novel self-made lippie product, ha ha! Watch out for it this weekend, and thanks for reading. :)

LOTD - MAC Beauty Marked

October 10, 2010 1:59 am · 143 Views · Posted by Regis

Here's my 2nd time using Beauty Marked for a smokey eye do - wore it for a dinner with a friend who was celebrating his birthday.

Pardon if my face looks greasy; by the time I took these pics was nearing midnight and I had this on since 8 a.m. That's after half a day in school and in the science laboratory, another quarter of a day at my friend's house baking cookies (the heat!!!) and the rest of the night having spicy Korean food in a crowded restaurant (once again, the heat!) and then MORE walking.

It's amazing my makeup managed to hold up till then.

And you can probably tell how tired I am from my eyebags - school sucks big time.

Nah, can't be bothered to cover it with concealer. Shall show the world how haggard NTU science school makes us, rawr!!! Anyway, I know my friend took some pics of the korean food we had, the restaurant as well as a few group pictures but I'm not sure if he's gonna upload it anytime soon. If he does, I shall include them in this post!

Till then, thanks for looking at this LOTD (and my eyebags) and take care! :)
