I still cannot believe I got this brush set. It's one of those products I thought I wouldn't get in the near future due to its exorbitant price (well, at least it was to me) but I can't help eyeing it every time I enter Watsons. S$29.90 for a bamboo mug with 5 brushes in it... Hmm, I could use that amount to survive in school for a week.
But I got it finally! For S$16.00... *grins stupidly* Ha ha, I got it in school, when this group of girls were selling eyeshadow palettes, makeup storage bags and brush sets. I kept asking them if this is authentic and they said it is. I scrutinized the set and packaging too, and it really seems to be the real deal so I got it, since it's so cheap.

I got the one in the cloth brush roll, I think this is the one more recently released. Correct me if I'm wrong ok? :)
Here are the brushes:
1) Blush Brush

This thing is insanely soft. I think I'm developing a personal tic of stroking my cheek with this and staring dreamily into space. Ha ha, sounds weird but it feels really good on the face! At first, I thought I would prefer a bigger brush, maybe their powder brush but this blush brush is pretty big, after I examined it out of its packaging. It's the only brush with "Ecotools" embossed on it.
PRO: really densely packed, doesn't shed (so far, after 1 wash), lightweight, soft
CON: so far, none (will keep a look out for this)
2) Eyeliner Brush

Hmm, this seems ok, just like any other eyeliner brush.
PRO: Bristles are neatly packed, non out of line and sticking out at awkward angles, relatively dense, lightweight, doesn't shed.
CON: Haven't used it yet, so cannot tell.
3) Concealer Brush

This was one of the reasons I was against getting this brush set in the first place. Cos I have absolutely no use for concealer brushes. Even when I do use concealers (which is quite seldom), I dab it on very small areas so this brush is a bit too big for me to use on my spots accurately. I offered giving this to my friend but she suggested using it as an eyeshadow brush...?
PRO: Doesn't shed, lightweight, good if you wanna apply concealer to large areas
CON: Not good for precise application of concealers, too big (for me), bristles are ok, not as impressively soft as the blush brush's
4) Eyeshadow Brush

Honestly speaking, I'm not a fan of eyeshadow brushes like this. I prefer fluffy, round brushes (like the e.l.f blending brush) cos they're easier to work with and they do a great job on blending creases. Unfortunately, I don't think Ecotools carry those kind of brushes.
PRO: Softer than the concealer brush, lightweight, doesn't shed, nice domed shape, densely-packed
CON: Just not my kind of brush for applying eyeshadows. However, I shall try working with it for a while and see how. :]
5) Lash and Brow Groomer

Once again, another average brush. I mean, this is one of those brushes you can just have 1 piece and survive on it, no need for back-ups, and I do already own one. So this was the 2nd reason that stopped me initially from getting the set, since I have no use for it. But after examining it, the bristles are a tad different from the current one I'm using. These are stiffer, kinda like toothbrush bristles so they seem a bit better at combing the eyebrows..? Also the bristles are so neatly packed, no stray strands messing with another. :D
PRO: Neat rows of bristles, doesn't shed, lightweight
CON: Takes getting use to the stiff bristles. I don't really know, haven't used it yet.
And here's the brush roll! It's really soft and it's great for storing the brushes. Gives it the pack-and-go feel, no need for bulky pouches/cases. :D

Ohh, and before it slips my mind! My sweet room mate actually got me this:

Ha ha, tweezers! Cos I kept complaining to her how mine keeps snipping my eyebrow hairs off instead of pulling them out cleanly, and before I knew it, she handed this pair over. So cute right? It's incredibly sweet of her to get me this too, thanks Ming Yun!
Hope everyone enjoyed this post and CMI review, cheers~
