Sephora LOTD - Gold Member

June 28, 2010 4:54 pm · 92 Views · Posted by Regis

Al'ight, I've decided to re-categorize my sephora entries - the numbers are getting ridiculously high. Blame my loud mouth, so much to complain about work.

So for a few days last week, we had the Gold Member theme, where we were to create looks using Urban Decay's "Honey" and "Zero" Deluxe e/s, together with Sephora's blush and rouge. Here's 2 of the nicer LOTDs that I did; it took me a while to find out how to work with gold and black, at first my e/s were all a muddy mess!

Look 1, the softer LOTD.

And look 2, the "BOOMZ" LOTD!

Sorry this "BOOMZ" look is tad messy and faded in this picture - I took these pics after I returned from work at 2 a.m. as I had to do the store's animation with my colleagues. Naturally, that includes lots of hard labour packing, arranging and moving stuff so our makeup became a little messed up.

I was saying that I didn't use the 2 UD e/s that I was suppose to use, instead the gold part was done with MUFE's gold loose e/s pigments and eye sealer. The black was from my 88 palette and the highlighter from a L'oreal quad.

So that's that for the LOTDs~ And thanks so much for all the sweet compliments guys - thinking back, I kinda think that the Eric guy complimented me cos no one else in the store was wearing such a fierce eye makeup, that's why he was surprised when he saw me. I'm sure he has seen many more nicer looks. But ahh well.

Net up would be my Stage haul (yes, I went and I spent!), a NOTD and the latest theme and LOTD! Thanks for reading, stay tuned!

Good Things Comes In 2's

June 25, 2010 3:25 pm · 86 Views · Posted by Regis

Ha ha, many exciting and good things have been happening to me recently and I'm super grateful for them. Well, it's because my work place has suddenly become more stressful, due to several reasons, and everyone has been feeling down and out. So these little blessings have really help lift my mood and keep me going despite the pressurizing working environment - I guess as in Alicia Key's song "Karma", what goes around comes around~

First of the duo, as I got out of bed just barely 5 hrs after I've turned in and was feeling all tired and lethargic (had to do animation for Sephora again, and this time it ended at 2 a.m.!), I found out that I've been featured on onsugar's official blog's "Sugar High"!

It went something like this: "Ehh, got new message... what is this...?"

"....What is a "Sugar High"??.... .... Oh. My. Gawd."

Yep, thanks for the lovely surprise, vap!

No wonder when I checked my blog this morning before I saw the message, I was intrigued by the sudden jump of views for "Sephora Ramblings Part 10". I thought some random people must have been googling and just happened to drop by, but I guess I know the reason now. Thanks everyone for reading the post (even though I still look sucky in the pics) and visiting my blog.

Hope my scary pictures didn't frighten you all too badly.

And on to Good Thing No.2!

Eric Jimenez, international makeup artist of Urban Decay, complimented me on the LOTD I had on yesterday.

Like. Oh. My. Holy. ****.

Yeah, it's this guy here:

[Pic credited to makeup stash, thanks dear!]

Ha ha, when I first saw him - alright, I heard him first before I spotted him ok? Cos he's kinda flamboyant and he's really confidant and loud when he speaks - I thought, "Wow... Like Adam Lambert!" That's because he was wearing this black blazer with these sparkly, jeweled brooches at the side that totally screams ADAM LAMBERT. That and his hair, and the way he carried himself.

He was at GWC's Sephora in the morning to give a workshop to Sephora's BA on the latest Urban Decay products and some makeup tips/advice. Around the time when it ended and he came out and started exploring the store was when I had just punched in for work and I was standing at the entrance to welcome people. I was planning to ignore him and his mini entourage - a caucasian lady and a Singaporean lady -  when he walked around and noticed me stoning.

"Oh hi, I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you." *offers his hand the way a lady would have offered hers, with his palm down and his fingers out in a delicate manner*

Oh my gosh, ha ha, at that point of time, I totally had no idea how to deal with that hand of his! I was expecting a proper hand shake but how to shake his hand like that?! So i just grabbed it and gave a firm shake before hastily letting it go.

"Which section do you take charge of?"

*blank look from Regis*

The Singaporean lady, whom I suspect is his tour guide-host, shot me an urgent, pressurizing look.

"Uhh, I go all over the place... I mean, I'm a temp staff." Something along that line came out from my mouth.

So that SG lady was trying to explain it when he suddenly pointed to my eyes and exclaimed, "Oh look! Look at her liner!"

And this was the LOTD I had on:

And the whole gang went gushing on how I did my cut-crease and my liner and blah blah blah. At this point of time, a few of my fellow colleagues, plus the MUFE makeup artist, had also gathered around us and I was half-blind cos I had pulled off my specs to show him the full look, so I feeling overwhelmed and didn't catch much of what they said.

"Who did this for you? What makeup did you use??" Adam Lambert asked me.

"I did this myself." *points to the Urban Decay rack*

*pleased grunt from Adam Lambert, plus a little more ogling*

And because of this whole bunch of people were staring down at me, I started blushing really badly. Like my whole face turned tomato-red. So I put my hands up to my face to hide my cheeks.

And he saw my nails. These:

"Ohhh, I like your nails too!"

Gosh, that totally didn't help with my blushing at all! In fact, I turned even redder so after they were done being fascinated, I had to hurry to the back room to cool down and drink some water.

Ah ha ha ha ha, it was a super amusing experience!!! Really nerve-wrecking and terrifying but I felt really special for once. And I'm glad someone actually saw worth in my creativity. :)

Ohh btw, I kinda lied. I didn't use any Urban Decay products to do this look at all. I was planning to - I did the base makeup with my 88 palette at home, but when I got there and wanted to use the UD e/s to touch-up, he had the colours with him in the training room. So I had no choice but to touch up with MUFE's Eye Sealer and gold loose e/s pigments, which the MUFE makeup artist kindly did for me. But come on! Faced with a internationally renowned UD makeup artist and his entourage, I'll be asking for death if I don't point to his UD rack. @___@

Yeah, that concludes my post for now, I'll be updating on some stuff soon~ Once again, thanks so much for visiting and reading this blog! Take care, everyone~

Sephora LOTD - Green Smokey

June 21, 2010 11:06 pm · 134 Views · Posted by Regis

Alright, if you've read my dear friend Naphula's post, you would have known that the theme we had last week at work was green smokey eyes. That plus orange/peachy cheeks and nude, glossy lips.

Which just made me look plain evil.

But that's ok, cos I am a bit evil on the inside and I enjoy displaying that side out. What I would give to go around the shopping mall yelling "F**k you" at the top of my voice. *grin*

Anyhoo, pictures of the LOTD I did!

This LOTD was fully done with Urban Decay eye products - Deluxe e/s pots in "Graffiti" and "Zero", highlighter shade in "Polyester Bride", eye liner with Ink For Eyes in "Zero" and mascara with Big Fatty and Skyscraper mascaras.

This LOTD was done using mainly 2 MUFE e/s, can't remember their names cos I just dipped my brushes into the pans and there weren't any names/numbers around. They were this nice deep green, teal colour and the matte black e/s. The highlighter shade was my own, and the eyeliner was done using Urban Decay's Liquid Liner. The lashes were done with Covergirl's Lash Blast and layered with MUFE's (awesome) mascara!

So yeah, I was parading around the store looking evilly like this. I predict that the coming week is gonna be like hell, for several reasons I won't discuss here but ohh well, life goes on~ *shrugs*

Thanks for reading, hope you guys enjoyed these LOTDs! :D

NOTD - Holographic Madness

June 21, 2010 12:11 am · 28 Views · Posted by Regis

I seriously don't know what's with my unhealthy obsession with holographic nail polishes - every time I see a holographic nail polish, I'll have this undeniable urge to get it. Maybe because their effects are so special and nice and glittery; it's not every time we chance upon a good holographic item right? So here's the NOTD that I did after having naked nails for quite some time.

Look at all that shiny colours on my nails, it's like I've got diamonds pasted on them! So much bling bling, I like~ And the holographic effect is awesome!

Ha ha, I think part of the reason is because I've used a silver holographic polish as a base colour (Color Club's Worth The Risque) and that fantastic silver glitter polish that I got from Malaysia's Etude House. Just 1 coat of WTR and 2 coats of the Etude House polish and I've got an ass load full of artificial diamonds on my fingers.

For the coming week, we're suppose to be wearing some blue and green nail polish by Sephora to promote their new Blue Laguna look but with such eye-catching nails and quite a few compliments from customers, there's no way I'm removing this NOTD anytime soon. :P Sue me if you want, lol!

Cameron Highlands

June 20, 2010 11:46 am · 31 Views · Posted by Regis

* WARNING: Image intensive

Ha ha, just decided to share a few pictures and some interesting experiences of the trip~ Hope it doesn't bore you since this is non-makeup related!

So, my family and I made our way up the mountain, about 1400m above sea level and it took us a good half a day from Malacca. The car journey up was about 4 hours on its own.

Here's what tells you you're getting higher and higher!

Yeah.. clouds. It's the 1st time this country-SG bumpkin is seeing clouds at eye-level so it was pretty amusing, for me! And then we came to one of the famous Cameron Highlands waterfall (can't remember its name! T.T)

Gahh, so pretty! Even though it's quite a small waterfall as compared to the other waterfalls of the world, I think its majestic and awe-inspiring enough for us! Then it's cam-whoring time~

This is at the foot of the waterfall, where the raging waters calm to a smooth trickling brooke. The scenery there is super nice lah!

And they have mountain dogs at the waterfall! So cute!!! Here's a pic of my mom and sister trying to get fresh with it, ngah ha ha!

We continued on and reached the top, at Brinchang town, and boy was it chilly up there! It was about 25 degrees when we got to the hotel in the evening, and nothing welcomes our tired bones more than this!

Om nom nom, ha ha, it was super shiok! The best thing about eating steamboat in Cameron is that you feel all warm and fuzzy inside but you never sweat! Unlike in SG, if we were to eat steamboat here, we'll be sweating bucket loads.

I guess I kinda like the cooling weather during the afternoons there, but night time and mornings at dreadful! It's so friggin' cold!!! That's me and my sister at the hotel cafe after breakfast, and you can see us all wrapped up in thick jackets and scarfs. It's like we're in some country having winter but it's only Cameron Highlands. Can't imagine going to Hokkaido or something, I'll become an ice block there...

During the 1 1/2 days there, we visited the honey farm, the strawberry farm and the BOH tea plantation.

Yeah, I go makeup-less when I go mountain trekking, ah ha ha!

And these things I saw at a flower plantation were friggin' awesome but scary at the same time!

These things are - excuse the language - farking huge!

.... must be the mountain air or something. Will I become taller too if I stayed there, lol?? Ah ha ha ha!

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this entry. I'll be getting back to makeup related stuff in the next post, thanks for reading!

Gigantic Haulage

June 17, 2010 10:36 pm · 82 Views · Posted by Regis

Well, I was hoping to haul more from Malaysia but after getting a few things here and there, it became quite a big haul afterall, lol! Just here to share with you some stuff I bought and the huge savings I made. :)

First up, 5 Silkygirl Funky Eyelights Pencil Liners!

Lol, I know I went a bit overboard buying so many at one go, but I got these at RM$11.88 (they were having their mid year sale too) which converts to about S$5.20 each! So cheap, you can't even get them at this price in John Little. As you can see, I got the blues, a purple, a dark green and a silver. The others didn't really appeal to me.

Next, mascaras!

I got the Silkygirl Double Intense as a backup, come on, it was selling for S$9.10 after conversion. And also the In2It Lengthening mascara (S$7.40 after conversion) to try out, since I was impressed with the fibres when I saw the tester. So far I've only tried it once to see it's effect, not much I can say yet about it - have to try some more. I was so tempted to get the Rimmel Glam Eyes cos they were selling it at such a low price... but gah, self-control.

On the 1st day when I was in Malacca, I got to go to a Daiso and I picked these up for RM$5 a pop.

I love the small smudge brush to bits. I've been using my older one for 1/2 a year and it's really good for putting eyeshadow on my lower lash line, or at the inner corners and tear duct. Currently, I'm using it to fill in my eyebrows but I've been searching frantically at every Daiso in SG for another one for my tear duct and lower lash line, and no luck so far. Until I found the last piece in Malacca's Daiso and I grabbed it without hesitation! Lol, and so goes the dramatic story behind my small $2 smudge brush. The green eyeshadow palette was bought on a wimp, and I haven't had the time to even open and swatch it yet!

And not forgetting my other love, nail varnishes~ I popped into Etude House - they were having a up-to-50%-off sale - and got these.

2 Darling-something-I-can't-remember-the-corny-name polishes at RM$9.52 after discount = S$ 4.14 each, and 1 petite-I-really-can't-remember-the-name polish at RM$ 4.72 = S$2.05. I just know I got 2 really nice big bottles and 1 beautiful small green bottle of polish at dirt cheap prices, and the colour payoff is extremely gorgeous.

Look at the holographic-ness of the silver glittery polish!

You'll see them soon enough, cos I'll be featuring some NOTDs using them. The colours are too beautiful, I'm sorely tempted to use them!

And of course I had to get an ass-load full of hair products. But it's totally justifiable, cos I finally found TRESemme!

Ha ha, enough shampoo and conditioner to wash my hair with for a lifetime and a half! And the TRESemme volume and lift mousse really works. I'm in awe, cos virtually nothing works on my limpy hair. Either that or I hate the texture/itchyness/smell/price but this really works and I've got nothing to complain about. This whole lot costed around RM$80 (S$35) which is really cheap, since I haven't found TRESemme in SG yet and the only way is to import them in (expensive shipping).

Last but not least, I've gotten stuff for my face and my hair... how can I forget about my body??? Ha ha, I didn't!

Lovely long white skirt for RM$30 (S$13) - it looks really boho with a black tank top. I'm planning to wear it out as a tube dress too!

Just a few more things... 2 items from sg_beauty!

Heh, 1 more Silkygirl Funky Eyelight pencil (got it for S$3) and the infamous Covergirl Lash Blast for S$9. Lol, I think I have to go on a mascara and eyeliner ban but there's so many more out there to try! I'm trying to reassure myself that I'm actually earning my keep now... but I should really save the money... ahh heck! STAGE sale, here I come! :D

Sephora Ramblings Part 7

June 17, 2010 12:04 am · 44 Views · Posted by Regis

Hey guys, I'm back!!!

Well, sorta... cos I've been so busy lately. I've actually been back for about 6 days already, but immediately after arriving back from Malaysia, I had to work for 5 days straight. That's like... 50 hrs at work, I'm not kidding when I say it's friggin' tiring. Whatsmore, I was suffering from a slight flu cos the weather in Cameron was simply too cold!

Although I didn't spend a lot of time in shopable places (there's only that many strawberries and packets of tea you can buy in Cameron), I got a few exciting stuff, which I will share with you some time soon...hopefully, when I have the time to snap pics of them. Maybe tomorrow, when I finally have my off day!

Anyway, just wanna post up a look I wore last last week, before I went on my leave.

This was during the week, when we still had our red-lips-winged-eyeliner theme. On the last day of that week, all of us promptly wiped the red lipstick away right after the shop closed. LOL, cannot stand looking at the 'orh biang' red lips anymore, all of us!

But the main focus here is actually my eyelashes - cos I was using MUFE's volumizing mascara and it was hella' good!!!

Case in point:

It's the waterproof one I think, I can't really remember cos it was a while back, but the mascara is really good! At the first coat/swipe, you can really see your lashes thickening and it also lengthened and curled my lashes to some extent. But the volumizing power is really awesome! No clumping even after 3 coats. Ha ha, a few of my buddies at work and I were marveling and happily layering on the mascara during those few days!

Too bad MUFE cosmetics are so expensive, cos they really are good products. Should really get them when the MUFE makeup artist is willing to give me staff discount!

And here's a pouty picture featuring the amazing MUFE plumping lip gloss!

Oh gawd, I love that stuff. I need that stuff! But it's like S$45 a small, itty bitty tube... Gahh! Should use more of it while I'm slaving in Sephora.

Anyway, thanks guys for all the lovely comments, and so sorry I haven't had the time to reply much. Hopefully, now I'll have a bit more time to update a few stuff and to reply some tags/messages! Cheers everyone!

Sephora LOTD - Winged Liner, Red Lips

June 7, 2010 2:52 am · 170 Views · Posted by Regis

For the week that just ended, we had to follow the theme - neutral eyes, winged eyeliner, pink blush and red lips.

And the 1st thing I thought when I heard this from Naphula was...

"Holy shit, china doll... I'm gonna look so fugly."

But yeah, what to do, have to comply with company's requirements. So here's an example of the look I was sporting for the last few days *to my horror*.

Full-face pics first, take caution! 8D

Ok, these pictures are taken from yesterday's look which was a bit different. I wore my Daiso fake eyelashes and my contacts (usually I just go with my specs and mascara, really couldn't be bothered) so my eyes were especially big and fluttery. And guess what? I think I got the hang of sticking on the falsies, cause it wasn't as uncomfortable as the 1st time, woots!

Close-ups~

Falsies banzai!

Once again, these pictures were taken after I've reached home and that's like 12 hours since I've put on my makeup. This look was maintained with Urban Decay's new "All Nighter" setting spray and no touch-ups were done, except for the red lipstick.

And for the lip colour, the one in these pictures are actually inaccurate cos I just quickly put on NYX's "Snow White" to show the complete look. While this lippie looks a bit too bright red on me, the lip colour I wear during work is actually a much deeper red and a gazillion times nicer - what I use are Urban Decay's lip pencil to outline and fill in the lips, followed by Sephora's slim lipstick and finished with Make Up For Ever's plumping lip gloss. Which gives the nicest, most sophisticated red ever! Sorry I couldn't take a pic of it, my phone camera sucks and I didn't wanna wear it all the way home (and scare half a dozen people to death). I had a few people complimenting and asking about my red lips and what lipstick I was wearing, so I took it as a good sign.

Anyway, I still have a few things to update but I really should be sleeping cos I'm going to Malaysia for vacation tomorrow! Cameron Highlands, cold weather and cheap cosmetics, here I come! Thus I'll be absent for the time being, so I'll catch you guys on a later date! Thanks for reading, take care~

Sephora Ramblings Part 6

June 4, 2010 9:45 pm · 62 Views · Posted by Regis

[This post was edited to correct some prices]

Yesterday's shift at work was one interesting experience, cos I stayed back together with my assistant supervisor, Naphula and one more colleague to help out with the new animation in Sephora.

You're probably wondering what that is. Well, it is basically setting up the new displays/booths and putting up new items to be featured. For example, yesterday's animation was for the new Urban Decay products that have just arrived, and additional display tables for sale stuff.

The 4 of us actually stayed back till 12.30 a.m. to complete everything, and for me, I thought it was a super nice experience. It's the 1st time I've seen GWC all quiet and empty, the 1st time I've seen this old uncle security guard guarding the Samsung TVs on display at the atrium (got sale lah), the 1st time I felt a weird buzzing warmth when we stepped into McDonald's at 12.30 a.m. and it was the only store opened. Lol, my assis. supervisor actually blasted Lady Gaga's remixes over the sound system while we worked away at the displays!

Anyway, let me reveal some of the new UD products that I can remember!

1) Summer of Love Nail Polish Set

[Credits to Temptalia]

A set of 7 nail polishes (5ml each) with a few metallic and neon colours. I'm not sure about the application/formula of the polishes but you can always google for it. The bag with all the little bottles is super cute though, and super enticing! If I'm not wrong, it's selling for S$49 or around there S$45.

2) Urban Defense Tinted Moisturizer

Comes in 3 4 shades, has got SPF 20 and is preservatives-free. We swatched it and it's all creamy and blendable. But I didn't notice the fragrance or the staying power, cos it was only a brief swatch. Selling for S$ 52.

3) Makeup Setting Mist

[2nd and 3rd item pictures credited to dbeautyjunkie]

Ok, I'm even more unclear about this product cos I only briefly saw the bottles - I'm not sure if we brought in the full range (seem to remember only 1-2 of the sprays among all 4), and I didn't test it so I don't know the texture, the fragrance, the effectivity etc. If you're interested in setting sprays, this is something new that you can check out though.

I tested out the "All Nighter" spray the next day and it's confirmed Sephora has brought in the full range of 4 sprays. My makeup doesn't really budge/disappear during my working hours because I'm not out in the sun, sweating and all, but just sometimes my blush tends to fade. The spray has a neutral faint fragrance, nothing really to notice about but the mist comes out in even, thin bursts which is good. After spraying it before work started, my blush and the rest of my makeup hasn't faded much. Can't say though in the sweltering heat outside. Selling for S$48.

4) Summer of Love Eyeshadow Palette

[Credits to allwomenstalk]

Oh. My. Gosh. The eyeshadows in this palette are stunning! I didn't get the time to swatch the actual shadows but I ogled at the palette when opening it and promptly had a meltdown when I saw the shadows. The shades are soooo beautiful! And the packaging, it rivals the gorgeous-ness of the shades. It's super pretty, super chic, super colourful and super tempting! This item is a must to see for yourself. Selling at S$50.

These are all the UD stuff I can remember. Other than these, we also placed quite a few items at 30% - 50% discount, and some 2 for S$20 items.

Plus! There's this whole new range of Sephora brushes that just came in a few days back, and I'm super excited to tell you this!!! Why? Cos it's super soft and super pretty.

Gosh... the brushes are so new that I can't even find a pic of them online...

But trust me on this, they are so much better than their predecessors. They have this metallic barrel body which comes in brilliant shades of purple, blue and hot pink and it's super easy to grip cos they have this rubber grip thing at the bottom. And most of the brushes are made of natural hair this time - I don't know why all the previous brushes were all synthetic fibres and why they decided to change that. And the hair is so soft, so much better than the platinum or professional range brushes.

I'm not trying to sell anyone anything but I just wanna share the exciting news with you, cos I really think the brushes have improved a lot and they're really worth checking out. Don't have to buy them, just feel them and swoon (like I'm doing everyday 8D).

I hope you enjoyed this exciting entry (for me larh) so do pop by a Sephora soon ok? Cheers!

**The prices may defer by S$1-2 cos I really can't remember all the prices, plus I don't really have the time to ogle at the UD products as and when I like. So do take these prices with a small pinch of salt, they're more or less around there.

Silkygirl Lash Prism

June 4, 2010 11:38 am · 97 Views · Posted by Regis

Okay, so in my previous post I was happily bashing Dejavu's mascara and how I've stopped using it. And now, I've found my temporary replacement!

It's Silkygirl's Lash Prism~ I know a few onsugarettes (Diana from adorebeauty and Mya from heavenlygorgeous)  have already raved about the product but whenever I swatched it in Watsons, I'm not really impressed by it. However, this time there was an exception.

I got these...

... at S$9.00 for 2 pieces! Like how cheap is that?!?

Seriously, this is enough reason to go down to the John Little Expo sale this time round. It's more or less the same as the previous sales but this! So totally worth it!! And they're having Lioele (Korean BB cream brand) products on sale too, which is a first!!! (See, I can't stop using exclamation marks). Ohh, and not forgetting, the Silkygirl lip glosses and duo eye shadows are going for 3 for S$9 and 2 for S$9 respectively, if I'm not wrong.

In the end, I got 4 tubes, LOL! I know, mascara overload but it's sooo cheap and sooo worth it! 2 dark browns, 1 purple and 1 blue (cos they ran out of black). I've already opened 1 brown and 1 purple and kept the other 2 as back-ups. One advice to remember when (mass) buying sale items is always to check the manufacturing date. I saw that my purple piece was actually manufactured more than 2 years back and when I opened it, surely as predicted, it was all dried up and clumpy. So I went back to do an exchange and the manager kindly did it for me without any questions. John Little service = thumbs up from me~

That said, I've been using the dark brown piece for the whole of this week and it's a huge improvement to the Dejavu Knockout mascara. Unsightly pics for proof!

Me without any makeup on my off day, the left is with the mascara and the right without.

Can see the big difference right? The mascara both volumizes and lengthens quite nicely, but it will start clumping after the 3 - 4 coats. However, the clumping is not as bad is Dejavu's though. And the best thing? It comes off easily with my L'oreal eye makeup remover! I'm so pleased with that bit - every night when I remove my makeup after a hard day of work, I'll be gushing to myself how easily it removes with my other eye makeup. To hell with warm water/cold water/no water/whatever removal!!! I don't need all that unnecessary technology, old school is the way to go, bahhh! xP

Thanks for reading, I'll be updating on some Sephora stuff later!
